Darkness... it all seemed hazy for some reason...
The sound of running water could be heard not too far away...
..."ugh"...
Where was he anyway... the last thing he remembered was that Gyarados attack. And then he was swept by the current.
"My head... what happened..."
Roderick slowly regained consciousness, his eyesight slowly regaining focus. In a moment, fuzzy green transformed into bushy trees that watched him from above. Slowly, Roderick incorporated himself, taking note of his surroundings.
He appeared to be in a forest of some sort, the vegetation seemed to suggest it. On the corner of his eye, Roderick could see a river, the ground around it was very wet, indicating a recent growth of the mass of water.
"No doubt how I got here".
Sitting down, Roderick retrieved his bag and searched inside. Thankfully, the force water hadn't damaged anything inside, which included the egg incubator and his pokéballs. Pulling them out, he called forth Vyse and Storm. Both pokémon stretched after a long time inside their pokéballs.
Vyse was the first to react to seeing Roderick, quickly embracing his trainer. Storm remained distant, but at the same time seemed content that everyone was alright.
"It's great seeing you safe and sound too guys. I'm still worried about the professor, but first we should see where we are... Storm, could you fly up there and see if there is anything you can see?"
The Staraptor nodded and soon he had flown upwards. Soon enough, the large bird returned, shaking his head in signal that he hadn't seen anything notable.
Taking this as a bad sign, Roderick decided that the best course of action was to get to someplace high, and find a place to spend the night.
"Ok guys, let's better get going".

It had been a couple of hours of steady waling, time and time again, Roderick would look out into the distance, but all he could see were trees blocking his view. He was becoming a bit tired of the never ending green that surrounded him.
"Just where did I wound up to?" Thought Roderick as he walked into what appeared to be an elevation in terrain., Perhaps that was his high point from which he would be able to see where he was.
"Ok Storm. I know we have not passed too much time together. But would you help me get up there?" Roderick asked his Staraptor. After a few seconds of inner deliberation, Storm sighed in resignation and grabbed Roderick by his shoulders, carrying him to the top of the "Elevation". Which turned out to be a medium sized hill. It didn't take long to reach the top, which was of a more rocky terrain compared to the rest of the area, it provided Roderick and his pokémon with a clear view of the surroundings. Roderick could see some signs of civilization some miles beyond, but since it was getting dark, and even flying during the night could be dangerous, he decided that spending the night here was the best course of action.
Luckily, rocky mountains like this always presented a cave of some sort. It only took Roderick some minutes of walking before he found a cave big enough for him, Vyse and Storm. Gathering wood and going down again for some water, Roderick's "Camp" was quikcly set.

That same night.
It had been a couple of hours since the night had fallen in the forest. Nocturnal pokémon were now roaming the forest below, minding their own business. The river, calm as always, reflected the moon and the stars on it's surface. It all seemed calm and at peace.
Roderick sat down inside the cave, it was big enough for him and his pokémon to rest comfortably. A fireplace had been set at the middle of the cave, bright enough to illuminate most of the rocky walls, creating a strange contrast between the light and the shadows.
Looking inside his bag, Roderick got out a pencil and one of his notebooks and began writing.
"Today has been a strange day... What a way to begin an adventure. It was just going to be filling the incubator with water. And now I'm stranded who knows where, miles away from civilization.
Still, I can count myself lucky that both me and my pokémon are safe and sound. This should make things easier for all of us. Especially since I've got Storm in my team now... But I'll leave the reckoning of he terrain for tomorrow. For now, I better rest".
As he set his things aside, he couldn't help but notice that something was missing... he couldn't quite put a finger on it... but something seemed out of place...
OOC: Will update later.

Looking around he made count of everything in the cave.
"Let's see, Vyse, Storm, my bag, some sticks, a few rocks... everything seems fine"
Scratching his head Roderick sat down and continued writing.
"Now, as a professor in training (Hopefully) I must do research and gether as much information as possible. I have already done rsearch on Vyse, and the egg is still a mistery to me. So I'll just write something about Storm.
Storm the Staraptor. While showing a overly territorial and angry disposition at first, Storm has demonstrated to ba a good asset to my team. Even if distant, he still obeys. Suggesting that he was trained beforehand. The reason of his release eludes me. I'll have to look into that later".
As he looked around again he noticed a shadow moving..
"What the... hey, where's my bag".
Inded, his bag had disappeared and the shadow moved faster at this remark, going deeper into the cave.
"Dang it, come back you thief" Said Roderick as he and his pokémon gave chase...

Twists... turns... darkness... it had been some time since Roderick, Storm and Vyse had gone further inside the cave in search for the thief. The bad news is that Roderick's flashlight was inside the bag that was stolen... the good news is that he had Vyse with him. The Riolu was quick to sense the aura of the thief and they were in hot pursuit.
As they moved, it was apparent that the thief wasn't interested in some items in particular. Some notebooks were found, a couple of pencils were scattered, some of them with bite marks. All of the notebooks in there were brand new. None of them had anything written on them.
"Yikes... whatever this thing is... he's hungry" Exclaimed Roderick as he saw a half chewed new notebook... he would need to restock later on.
A single scape rope was resting besides a rock. Picking it up he made sure it was in good condition. It would be useful later.
"Let's hurry up, I'm worried about the egg".
As they proceeded the cave changed. The walls appeared to contain more minerals, and some parts seemed bitten off. They were getting close, the marks around the place indicated that the creature lived around here...
And they were right... to their right, some meters ahead, a path extended away from the main one. It seemed... unnatural. Some tracks were present. Along with some more of Roderick's items.
Picking up the Ultra balls and some potions, Roderick looked ahead with resolve.
"Let's go guys"
